Aside from not eating obvious poison, there is no eating plan that fits everyone. Nor is there an eating plan that fits at different stages of life. That being said, what works for me that keeps my BMI at around 23, keeps my energy up and my head clear is to be as close to 90% unprocessed as possible. Unprocessed is NOT being a raw foodist. For me cooking is fine. But if it has a label then it is processed. For me this is incredibly easy to maintain along with a 12/12 intermittent fasting schedule. Thanks for the thoughtful posts.
Great point, about “one size fits all” strategies not working. I think it’s important to avoid having the “perfect” get in the way of the good. It can be very interesting, and truly helpful to find “hacks” as far as timing and macros, but we don’t want that to get in the way of the big picture. In the end, it’s not about “going on a diet”, but “changing one’s diet”. To be a lifelong practice, it needs to be sustainable, flexible, varied, wholesome, natural and enjoyable.
Doing the eight-hour eating window. Going well. Usually same time each day but staying with my daughter, so had to switch hours. Some days longer depending on the day. Haven’t done a 24-hour yet, but will try one one day.
Doing very good...I purchased a scale yesterday, so I am able to track my progress. I am watching my carb intake and practicing the 8 hour eating window, 16 hours of fasting. I will be trying the 24 hr fast this week. I have much more energy..doing a lot of cleaning and organizing ...also, there are a lot of good you tube videos for belly crunches and simple exercises for 55 and over.....I did go out to lunch yesterday with friends and had some high calorie, high carb foods....but getting right back on track today.
Here is a quick video to remind of the big picture of health.
