I am not currently participating in the carnivore challenge. I have definitely improved my health through diet first. I intermittent fast at least 5 days a week and practice low carb and high protein eating. I would say that 70% of what I eat is meat. But when I do add exercise and stick with it I jump to the next level for sure. That’s my downfall is keeping the exercise consistent.
I've started moving more to get my mind off of food & to replace the pleasure I used to get from it. There are days when I'm hungrier and have had some lightheadedness... so I just relax and snack on some protein. I'm very grateful that a lot of my hip pain and knee pain is gone.
I don’t think I qualify to answer this just yet since I had a hip replacement last week. But I will say this. I had minimal swelling, zero bruising, and I’m bored out of my mind and can’t wait to start moving. Does that count?
Tend to feel a little hungrier while going back to carnivore but that is settling somewhat. Making nice progress with resistance training. Continuing to intermittent fast as well. Realizing that proper sleep is key to keeping all of this in balance, and I have not been on a good sleep schedule these last couple of weeks.
I have been able to achieve my goal weight through diet more so than exercise. I also have been working out more with weights as well as cardio at least 5 days a week. If I don’t eat well or exercise the consequences aren’t pretty, I gain weight and loose muscle mass,
I have not been exercising despite feeling good being low carb. Why? Because I loathe exercising and no matter how much I know it’s beneficial physically and mentally I struggle with myself to get a plan in place to add exercise into my lifestyle. I never give up hope so I’m still working on it.
Yes I am more active and much more aware of the times I’m inactive. I’ve added some exercise, but mostly getting more done around the house, errands, etc. definitely taking more walks.
Stefanie can you share what you eat for snacks if protein? I like to keep things on hand/cooked in case I’m busy to tide me over till dinner. Thank you.
Thank you Candy, your suggestions are good ones. I try having bacon cooked & ready to eat and it’s filling. It costs more than my youngest child tho. Gotta laugh I’m always laughing at myself. You may have been the one who gave us the idea of chipped ribeye. Going to Columbus Amish mkt tomorrow to pick some up.
I am more active now due to more energy. I’m not able to exercise having a terrible intolerance with heat. Can’t get house cold enough so I must wait till cold weather when I walk daily 4-6 miles.
I remain carnivore and have lost weight.
Dr H you’d mentioned per good sleep something about circadian clock or maybe rhythm. I had asked exactly what this means for our sleep. You may have answered my Comment and I missed it. Thank you.

Gale that’s great you’re doing so good after your surgery and so quickly. Happy for you!

The game changer for me has been the diet (I've consistently met my exercise goals for a couple years now).

One of my favorites is hard boiled eggs. They are handy and filling.
Having a bite or two of a good cheese is good for me, too.
I also occasionally will snack on pork rinds.
Just a little bite will hold me over until next meal.

Joann-
Circadian rhythms to simplify is to sleep when it is dark, and awake with sunrise.
Doing this can further rebalance your hormones and neurotransmitters, lower inflammation and lead to improved energy.
