I am going to go the Ken Berry route and try ground beef, butter, bacon, and eggs as the basis for my carnivore challenge. I've done it before with good results, and with quality ground beef it is hardly a struggle.

I thought cheese was allowed in carnivore?

There is not just one type of Carnivore. Some include cheese and dairy. Others don’t. Cheese is like chocolate for me. So if I want to shed a few pounds I avoid cheese. If my weight is good and steady then I add cheese. You need to do what works for your primary goal.

Organic, grass fed-finished meats or does that go without saying?

Also make your own mayo. Easy peasy.

We kicked our homemade mayo up a notch by substituting olive oil for bacon grease. It makes every sandwich taste like a BLT.

That sounds good but has to be good bacon too! I used to buy Primal Kitchen but I wasn’t a fan of the Avocado. Using the MCT oil in the mayo works great and taste wonderful.

I’m getting ready. My freezer has burgers, filet mignon, sausage, and mason jars filled with chicken bone broth. Is it acceptable to include protein powder blended with water?Oh! And bullet proof coffee!

Ok, so if we remove the muscle gain and water, maybe 3-4 lbs…That sounds like a reasonable fluctuation. That extra muscle helps raise your basel metabolic rate too👍🏼

Dr. H,

How much of your 10lb gain would you contribute to water weight gain. 10lb of actual gain would need 35.000kcal worth of excess consumption on top of maintenance. That’s a lot with just some addition of fruit.

It is not water weight.

It’s around my middle but without changing my belt/pant size.

My guess is 1-2 lbs muscle as I have been doing resistance training, and the other 8 lbs is fat/water weight.
