Knowing what the weather was supposed to be this weekend. We did our harvest two days before.

Our black walnut trees nuts where large and plentiful, none last year. I think that tells us of the winter!

We canned mostly, this weekend, to have our 20% fresh vegetables for winter. Our hickory nuts where finished there drying period, so nut cracking away. We gathered the hickory bark for hickory syrup and hickory tea and gathered our hibiscus flowers to dry for tea. Needless to say I missed this post yesterday, to busy to be hungry!

I keep a variety of herbal teas on hand and have gotten used to enjoying them with no sugar. A hot cup of tea always feels like a treat to me, and it usually hits the spot. When I do snack, I give myself a small portion (using a small plate/bowl so it looks like more) and take much smaller bites/chew longer to make it last. Sometimes just drinking a glass of water does the trick.

Aloha again!!! Cooking omg one of my fav so much so that I've done this with my clients. I love to do batch cooking. This is really a great way to share. Food with family and friends. When we cook, a lot of senses are involved. We shop prep and serve. Sense of touch, visual, and smell. When these are satisfied, we can appreciate the food we are eating and savor it. We also know the quality of the oils that are used, the ingredients and effort put into preparing our nutrition. And if you have an artistic flair, it's a great way to express yourself in the kitchen. And if you're a newbie in the kitchen, no worries experimentation is fun! Aloha 🤙🏽🌺

Instead of giving into temptation, I now, listen to music while dancing, clean my home or simply read a good book😁

I don’t keep any snack foods in the house. Ever. The things in my fridge are all healthy and low-carb so if I snack a bit extra it’s no big deal. However, since it rains here like 5-6 times a year I’m rarely stuck inside on rainy days.

Clean and organize!! Go shopping in your closet!!! I love the cool bohemian bracelets. However after closer examination- 30 may be a little much!!! Closet organizer by hobby - it's awesome!!! Clothes by color? Type?

Next how about the pantry? Time to throw out expired supplies, overly loved cooking utensils and such The happy chaos fire energy of summer is winding down - time for diving for those indoor projects. Move furniture - never know what you'll find?!? And it helps the Qi be dispersed. Hope this has entertained you all!! Malama pono OI 🌺😎

I find that if I brush my teeth right after a meal I am less likely to snack. That and keeping busy with activities that involve using your hands - fun things which for me are practicing cello or knitting and maybe some not so fun but ever so satisfying “rainy day” projects like cleaning, etc.

I tend to graze. I can be distracted for periods of time with a project however, not long enough.

If I eat enough at my usual times, temptation to fridge-surf doesn’t even cross my mind. Knowing what constitutes “enough” is the trick - both in terms of volume and in terms of macronutrient composition. Ken Berry’s “eat until you’re comfortably stuffed” is a pretty good gauge for me as far as volume; my years of playing with my diet have shown that for me, high fat, moderate protein seems key - so I end my meal(s) with a couple of Tbsp of butter and I’m usually good to go. I know for many others, it’s high protein moderate fat that does the trick. Paying attention to what you crave when you’re drawn to the siren song of the refrigerator or pantry can be useful and instructive.

Make soup and clean out a closet. I’d like to say I read a lot, and I do, but if anyone has a trick to NOT have something good to pick on next to you, I’d love to hear it.
