I assume there are ways to measure IR outside of observing HBP? If so, when a patient with HBP is on medication, does that measure of IR typically show reduction as well, or does IR continue despite the lowering of BP by the medication?
Mike- Great question- HBP meds rarely improve IR. That is why I believe that even though the BP readings appear to improve with meds, end organ damage can still progress. If instead you go after the trigger of the HBP by lifestyle choices that reduce IR more directly, you also reduce BP and reduce end organ damage.
