There is so much misinformation and downright lies floating around about health issues. There needs to be more articles addressing them and the damage they do.
If you’re bored and/or curious, watch peoples shopping carts at supermarkets. Good dietary information is available, but the vast majority are indifferent. 99,9% know that broccoli is better for you than a bag of crisps, and yet the carts are full of crisps.
They almost always go hand and hand, so you might as well include cholesterol’s vilified friend ‘saturated fat’ to the campaign. Also include the importance to absolutely avoid their “heart healthy” inflammatory substitutes(vegetable/seed oils: corn, soy, rapeseed/canola. Sunflower, safflower, cottonseed)
What about the link to High LDL and dementia, especially in APO4 carriers? Also, recently found information that a common antihisthimine that many use, including me, increases LDL levels. Never had an issue in my life, nor did my parents in their entire lives, until last couple of years. Still eating eggs and dark chocolate though.
Most high LDL cholesterol links to disease processes are confounded by other factors which are more likely contributors such as Insulin Resistance/metabolic syndrome.
Terrific work. I have frequent conversations on this matter with patients - and often having a proxy conversation with their primary care physicians or cardiologists - and it's great to have the key studies pointed out as you've done here.
