FYI
I did not watch the State of the Dis-Union Monday night as I try to refrain from political speeches especially as they try to define health issues of which they have little knowledge. So do not ask me about any part of the speech as I did not watch it. I don’t like watching politicians in the same way I do not like reading media stories as what I see and read is mostly fiction. I wish it was not this way but it is. The world has become a conflict between Team Spin and Team Reality. We are all adults and I think if given true information we can decide what works best for us as individuals.
Before I write anything else I must ask you.
Do you believe our State or Country is United or Disunited?
Do you believe our political parties foment polarization for political gain?
(( Woo Hoo - I got to use the word "foment". Did I use it correctly?? I am trying to increase my vocabulary outside of medical terms ))
Back to healthcare with a focus on Primary Care.
Do you believe traditional primary care the way government and industry has it presently set up is working?
Do you believe the IMW has a better version of primary care?
Should the healthcare focus be on individual health or public health?
Should the healthcare focus be on sickness or wellness, band-aids or prevention?
Should the healthcare focus be on informed consent or health mandates?
Should the healthcare focus be on corporate protocols or individualized treatment?
Should the healthcare focus be on private healthcare professionals allowed independent thought or employed healthcare professionals captured by corporate protocols?
Who should decide how you live you life in respect to your health choices?
I have had enough of the political polarization and disunion forged by political parties in Trenton and D.C.
Health and Well-care are too important to let others, especially those in government and corporate boardrooms sway you towards lifestyles and interventions that are more controlling and profitable for them than actually healthy for you.
You need to take control and seek out those you believe can best help you achieve and sustain optimal health.
We need to bring the union back to the State of the Union, especially as it relates to individual health freedoms.
We need government and health corporations to work for us, not nudge, pressure, coerce, force or mandate health behaviors on us.
We need government to set up a fair system where everyone has individual responsibility for their health but no one gets left behind due to health issues or income. Healthcare professionals need to be free to use their training and critical thinking skills to always move the needle forward in terms of improving your health.
This can happen.
But I doubt it will in the present political environment.
Both political parties need to grow up and start working together for us, to allow us to maintain our individual health freedoms.
Let's hope now that COVID is winding down we can all move our focus to getting as healthy as possible so we are in a better place when the next COVID-like plandemic occurs.
My advice: Don’t believe everything you see or hear from politicians, corporate boardrooms or the media. The last two years is enough proof to keep your eyes open. The link seems fitting as the song was about a dystopian world……
Intermittent Fasting Challenge Question:
2. Do the benefits only apply to strict adherence. Can I fast intermittently on an intermittent basis? Probably 5 days on, 2 days off at least to start.
This is a question still being debated.
Metabolic flexibility is a key for good health and balance. If you are able to easily switch from fat burning to carb burning and vice versa, then you can do intermittent fasting on an intermittent basis, but as you suggested aim for at least 5 days a week. If you are going for weight loss though, 5 days on and 2 “cheat days” may not move the scale. It’s easier to gain than to lose excess pounds. That’s how our ancestors survived thru winters, food scarcity and famines.
Just throwing this out there to think about.
As always questions and comments welcome.
I will try to answer questions in future posts.
Thinking about intermittent-intermittent fasting. I don’t think it necessarily means the end of weight loss potential. Fasting can obviously help, but the key in the end is always about reducing total caloric intake. So, instead of looking at is as a “cheat”, perhaps it’s better to think of it as a “borrow”. On the non-fasting day, the “extra” meal, would just have to be adjusted for with reduced portions in the remaining meals of the day. It would also be beneficial for this “borrow” meal to be high in fat/protein. Ironically, the worst meal of the day to be high carb(break-fast) is the one that is the highest in carbs/lowest in fat in the standard-American—diet(SAD). Some of the usual suspects: Cereal, toast, orange juice, oatmeal, bagels, waffles, muffins, pancakes, skim/reduced fat milk, non/low fat yogurt, sugary yogurts, “nature” bars, granola, smoothies………
Well said!
