Took a few days off from writing.
Did ya miss me?
We all make mistakes.
Sometimes it’s hard to admit them.
But it feels good to do so.
I find you are more apt to continue to make the same mistakes if you don’t own up to them.
So here goes.
I am sorry that it took just over ten years of traditional medical practice to realize that traditional medical practice is good when you have an acute urgent or life threatening medical issue, but it is pretty poor on knowing how to prevent those urgencies.
Who was it that said “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” ?
I think it was Ben Franklin. If you are a history teacher or history buff, let me know if I am wrong. I could search the Internet for the answer, but we know the internet is not necessarily the place to go for truth nowadays.
Since we are on the subject of prevention ….
Cardiologists are hard working highly trained specialists who may save your life one day if you are having a heart attack, cardiac arrhythmia or heart failure. At some point in our lives we need them on our healthcare team.
My job is to provide advice and counsel on how to live your life so you hopefully never need to see a cardiologist for any urgent or emergent issue. I have found that improving and balancing out your diet, nutrition, metabolism, hormonal, gut and immune health goes a long way towards preventing heart disease as well as many other health issues.
We seem to be living in the pill popping Big Pharma decade. But ask yourself if pills rebalance health issues or mask those issues.
When you balance all the systems of your body you end up feeling better and usually are able to decrease or de-prescribe many medications. Not a bad feeling when you figure out what your body wants and you provide it, instead of giving it multiple prescriptions from your local pharmacy.
But if you prefer, you could continue to follow the traditional advice of low fat high carbohydrate plant based diets as well as statins to lower cholesterol and see how that works out for you. It works for some, but usually just a minority. If it worked more in my practice I would still be recommending it.
Ask yourself this.
Would you rather be:
Patient 1- blood pressure of 120/80 on 2 blood pressure medications
Or
Patient 2- blood pressure of 120/80 on zero medications
It’s not a trick question.
I like to look at your health without the clouded lens of Big Pharma/Government/Insurance/Corporations getting in the way.
Eyes wide open I like to say.
Ooh.
That pic a a bit creepy, isn’t it?
Well, please accept my apology that it took me just over 10 years of practice to realize that prevention is the way to go in primary care and that the traditional health care system may be a bit lacking there with their focus more on medications than getting the body naturally back to a healthy balance.
I hope more of you will join me at the IMW to help guide you on your journey to improved health.
In case you have missed me sharing health memes, here is one for ya that kind a goes with todays theme.
Ok, what did he miss?
To Dr. James’s list, I would add:
-Saturated fat is bad
-Vegan diets are the best
-Carnivore diets are the best
-Carbohydrates are bad
-Cholesterol is bad
-Use sunblock
Normally, I try not to post another substack within a substack, but this is on point with what you are saying about traditional/industrial medicine….
