I went to Holland Pa for a family birthday celebration. It was at a Russian banquet style restaurant where they just keep bringing more and more food to the table.
Let me tell you there were lots of carbs and lots of veggies and potatoes. Now when I say at Day 5 I am locked in with Carnivore, I mean it.
I luv potatoes.
From what I was told they were crispy on outside and soft on inside and just the right amount of garlic and salt. I said I was told because I did not have any.
Very proud of myself.
I think I deserve a sticker. I’ll check my collection at the office.
Sometimes I talk too much. But I will have to hold my tongue on one thing.
I mean that, literally.
That meat looking thing on the left plate was tongue. I’ve never had it before so I figured why not. It tasted like chicken. Ha Ha, no it didn’t. It did have the texture and taste similar to roast beef. I would have it again.
So what else did I have?
The top pic is veal with mashed potatoes. The veal was fantastic. I probably ate half that plate. But I had zero of the mashed potatoes.
Prior to the veal was meat and cheese which I had half a dozen pieces, some as meat and cheese roll ups.
There was other food that I passed on. See the collage below.
The last course was chicken skewers which I had plenty.
Not the breaded part or the onions or sauce.
Soooo…..
Day 5 and locked in.
Then came the desserts.
Guess which I had?
You are correct.
None.
I want this challenge to work.
I was full at end of meal just eating things that could run, swim or fly away. If it grew out of the ground I passed.
My guess is I will have gained a pound due to this celebratory feast and I believe it was heavily salted as I have been chugging water all night. So my weight gain will be majorly from salt/water retention which usually resolves in a day.
As Day 6 of the Carnivore Challenge is a Monday, I will most likely Intermittent Fast until dinner so any weight gain that occurred will be lost and hopefully a bit more.
How has everyone else done this weekend on their Challenge?
How do you handle family celebrations when wanting to eat better, whether Carnivore or something else?
Let me know in the comments below.
I talk politics so I immediately am asked to leave, therefore not having to fight with the food 😀
Wow you have a ton of willpower! I’m not quite there yet, but I’m hoping I will get there soon. My office sent me a ton of food from Panera today (for the family) because I’m back in the hospital tomorrow but will be home Wednesday. I did eat the chicken from a sandwich. I didn’t eat the bread but who knows the quality of that chicken. I’m afraid to ask. I also ate a small salad. Again, don’t ask about the dressing. So I did not have a good day. I plan to fast tomorrow and Wednesday until I get home.
