It’s almost time to start the IMW Diet Challenge.
My challenge will officially begin on Monday January 17th, 2022, but I’ll let you in on a little secret.
I’ve kind of started today.
I like to get a head start.
I like to get out of the gates running.
I don’t like leaving things for the last minute.
But that’s just me.
I want you to do this challenge your way.
But I would like you and everyone who is with me for this challenge to participate in reading and commenting so we can all learn from each other and root each other on. So yes, the majority of “roots” during this challenge will come from each other, instead of the carbohydratey type from the ground.
I had to find a way to use the word “carbohydratey”.
Now a few things to think about as we approach the start date.
I don’t want you to plan to “try” a lower carbohydrate diet.
I’d prefer you to plan to “succeed” on improving your health with a lower carbohydrate diet.
So here are some initial things to think about while you plan for success.
Get your food ahead of time.
Don’t go food shopping when hungry.
Plan out your meals.
Don’t get “stuck” getting something “quick”.
Don’t rush through your meal as mealtimes are for Eating, Relaxing, Destressing and Socializing.
If you tried a lower carbohydrate diet in the past and it was not successful, please reply back in the comments section with why you think it did not work for you then. My hope is to figure out how to make it work for you this time.
So you have your challenge. I will have mine, both personally on my diet and professionally helping you to succeed.
I hope to take pics of my meals during the challenge to show how I approach my diet. I will be adding them to this blog as well as put many on Instagram where I can be found @IMWHorvitz .
Here was my 1st meal of the day today around 1PM.
Chicken sausage with onions and peppers.

BTW: While the official start date of the IMW Diet Challenge is Monday, you can start the challenge anytime you want that works for you while the challenge is still taking place. But the earlier you get in the better.
Soooooooooooooooo…..
Who is ready for a challenge???????
We nixed the carbs about six days ago and already feel 70-80% better on the daily. The transition into keto does require some effort but it's nearly all on the planning your meals side. I'd say after a week those constant feelings of hunger and always thinking about your next meal start to disappear. In our house we call it "keto-brain" vs "carb-brain". For us, keto naturally decreases appetite so you spend less time thinking about food and more time getting things done. You get things done because your energy levels increase. Instead of feeling sluggish you find you have an adequate and nearly endless supply of energy to do what you need to do. Tasks that you would often put off start to get done merely because you just flat out feel better. In our experience I will say that these improvements grow the longer you're on keto! Even when you hit plateaus (assuming your goal is weight loss) they are easier to endure and make adjustments because you.....feel.....good....all....the....time! That's our experience anyway.
My blood ketones were higher today at 2.1 then they have been for a long time.
