Day 4 of IMW Carnivore Challenge
I saw a recent thread on social media that asked what are the common mistakes made when on Carnivore.
Here are some of the replies.
Let me know if you agree or disagree.
“Biggest mistake most people do on the carnivore diet?”
They go to steak houses and fast food joints, order carnivorously and don't realize it's cooked in seed oil.
Eat too much organ meat or not enough fat.
Thinking you must supplement electrolytes continuously may cause 💩trouble. You may only need electrolytes for a few days when first transitioning to ketosis — if at all.
The approach to carnivore as a diet - it's a lifestyle, a philosophy, a skepticism-based experiment effort, a health reclaimer....
Just don't start carnivore to 'lose weight'
Do it for you health! 💪
Don't incorporate some level of intermittent fasting. It's such a dynamic combination.
Over think it
not eating enough meat fat & stop eating before comfortably stuffed...
Cheat days!
Probably too much dairy. It can cause problems, and it can be addictive.
It’s delicious though. I’ve been there.
Low carb beer 😞
Not getting help if you’re feeling worse than you were before carnivore. Usually there’s something wrong beyond the diet. I made that mistake and suffered for 8 months.
Most common mistakes people make are bringing old dietary habits: cutting calories, not eating fatty cuts of meat, including some carbs or fiber, eating too little protein. Include diet sodas, processed keto snacks, and seed oils
Saying it fits everyone and saying everyone should switch to it if he/she wants to be healthy.
No, this is not a cult and carnivore may not be the only health option for certain individuals and for certain issues.
plateau for months from sugar free branded drinks
Tooo much protein, not even close to enough fat. Not in ketosis, blood sugar too high too often.
Restrict calories, fat and salt intake.
Same mistake every time.
They call it a diet, instead of seeing the potential of it being a lifestyle
What do you think?
Have you made any mis-steps in your Carnivore challenge that you have learned from?
My mis-steps are eating too much dairy/cheese so I am greatly reducing it.
What are your mis-steps?

It’s not the sugar. It’s more likely the altered/exaggerated insulin response.
Sweet tasting foods, excess dairy in some people can keep insulin elevated as well.
Measuring glucose levels will doubtfully tell u anything that would change your habits.
I have plateaued and am sure it's from sugar free drinks and adding zero calorie sugar substitute to my tea and coffee. I've also been eating too much cheese and cream in my coffee. Do artificial sweetners raise blood sugar? Is there a simple way I can test my sugar at home?
