I'd like to thank everyone for their comments and suggestions surrounding my post yesterday, on April 1st.
It is nice to know so many of you enjoy what I write, hopefully even when you realize it was published on April 1st...................
But I think we all need to realize:
April Fools' Day has lost it's significance since it appears to be happening every single day of the year these days.

What I found interesting was that just about all of your comments, both pro and con of the made up Spotttiffy opportunity was "Spot"-on. My readers really understand the ways of the world and most definitely do NOT lack Common Sense.
So again thank you to everyone for allowing me to have some extra special fun reading all the comments yesterday.
Til next year.......
This was my favorite news story of the day yesterday.

Anyone else think that was a good story???
This was my favorite read of the day today.

Now on to real business.
It is now April 2022.
We have completed two health challenges so far.
February 2022 was the IMW Low Carbohydrate Diet Challenge.
March 2022 was the IMW Intermittent Fasting Challenge.
April 2022 will be the IMW Activity/Exercise Challenge.
I hope to be able to introduce different types of activities/exercise with the help of some guest authors. I will also write about the many benefits of exercise/activity on keeping us healthy, vibrant and hopefully well-balanced to slow down the aging process. More on this in the first official IMW Activity/Exercise Challenge post on Monday.
Today I will say just a few things about the difference between activity and exercise as I see it. Let me know if you believe different.
Activity is normal daily movement.
Examples of Activity:
Walking and moving about your home or office.
Cooking or cleaning if you do those things.
Taking out the trash instead of letting it pile up and hoping your housemate will do it for you.
Walking from your car into your workplace. It’s even more activity if you don’t try and get the closest spot in the parking lot. We were given legs and feet for a reason.
Carrying your Low Carbohydrate groceries into your home is an activity.
Carrying your high processed carbohydrate fake inflammatory fat gruel into your home, while being an activity is not necessarily good for your health.
The above are activities which are important but they are NOT exercise.
So what is Exercise?
Exercise like activity is also movement, but I see exercise as purposeful planned movement to push your body a bit to try to either burn some calories, get your heart rate up, improve your circulation, help with lymphatic flow, build up a sweat and help detoxify your body, and of course work to build up and strengthen your organs, bones and muscles.
Examples of exercise:
“Cardio” such as jogging, running, biking, hiking, spinning, rowing or swimming.
“Weight training” can be lifting heavy items and resistance training.
“ Fluid planned movements” such as Karate, Martial Arts, Yoga, Pilates or Tai Chi are examples of exercise.
“Sports competition” such as golf, tennis, soccer, hockey and basketball, are examples of exercise. I guess baseball is as well although much of the time the players are just standing around waiting for something to happen.
I’m sure I missed many other types of exercise. While I grouped some together there are many of the above that overlap so that you can get both a cardio and weight training exercise workout at the same time.
My goal with exercise is to engage in something I enjoy, and feel when I am through like I had a physical workout that I want to do again and again. I want exercise to be fun and enjoyable, not difficult and annoying. I want to wake up and have my body say to me, “Get up and move your a-s today. Use it or Lose it!”
So I think you get my drift about the differences between activity and exercise.
Both activity and exercise are helpful and healthy.
It is up to you to figure out how much of each to do to improve your health, wellness and vitality. If you want you can also ask me or the many professionals who help people exercise every day, some of whom you will hear from this month right here on Common Sense Health and Wellness, so stay tuned.
So my professional goal for the April 2022 IMW Activity/Exercise Challenge will be to help you build upon your Lower Carb and Intermittent Fasting Challenges with the added increase in activity/exercise to find your own unique balance that improves your health and quality of life. My personal goal is the same as yours. I want to get healthier and stronger as I age.
If you have already found your balance then congratulations!
How bout letting us know how you got there?
You probably weren’t always there. Tell us your story in the comments section or contact me privately. Perhaps your story could be a guest post to help others.
Remember one of the goals of Common Sense Health and Wellness is to learn from each others experiences. I don’t mind doing most of the writing as it is my blog/newsletter/substack or whatever we call it these days. But a little help or inspiration from others every now and then can only make the message better and stronger.
Something to think about.
As always please leave questions and comments below.
Would you differentiate between normal walking as part of everyday activity and intentionally walking 3+ miles a day, everyday?
Nothing wrong with putting things in categories. There certainly are “day to day “activities”, and then there are the more specific “exercises” that we might do. Personally, over the years those distinctions dissipated, and it all unified to an overriding “engagement”. The exact form of engagement might differ, but it’s all engagement of the bodily systems. The body is amazing in so many ways. No computer or machine can match it in its entirety. It is certainly a masterpiece, but not one that we keep locked up as a museum piece. It was design to be used, and to function as it was designed, it must be used…
Keep moving!!!
