Time to get away

Do any of you remember the whack a mole game?

The object was to use a hammer to whack the mole that would randomly pop up out of one of the holes. I liked to play it when I was younger whenever I saw it in an arcade.

Why am I bringing up an arcade game?

Well, when I was at the NYC IHS Conference in February, Dr. Mark Hyman gave a presentation. He used the phrase:

“We need to get away from Whack-A-Mole medical care”

What does he mean by that?

We have to stop thinking of a health issue as one abnormal test treated by one medication. In other words, whack with a medication the mole or health issue.

It would be great if health and wellness was that simple. Well actually it wouldn’t because I don’t think we all suffer from prescription medication deficiencies.

True health and wellness is about keeping your body in balance. At the IMW we look to help you balance out many different systems such as:

• Metabolism

• Inflammatory

• Nutrition

• Hormones

There are others but those are the biggies that you actually have the most control over with your lifestyle, if you so choose.

The Traditional Healthcare System is very good at putting out the intense acute fires that could be very very damaging. But IMHO, they are pretty poor at preventing those same fires.
