#IMWChallenge Day 10
Plateaus are a frequent obstacle on many weight loss journeys and lower carb diets are no exception. For the newbies out there a weight loss plateau is when after you have done well and lost some weight, weight loss stalls even while you are still following the same rules of your diet plan.
Plateaus can be frustrating as we all wish weight loss would be more of a linear than a stepwise pattern.
But we don’t all get what we wish when we want it.
Read that sentence again. I dare anyone to write a sentence that makes sense using more than 6 words in a row that begin with the letter “W”. If you can please write it in the comments section.
There are many potential causes as well as fixes for plateaus. We would need to work closely to figure out how and when to break through the plateau. But here are some things to consider.
1- Your diet relaxed just a bit
2- Increase in daily stress
3- Timing of meals has changed
4- Medication change
5- Nutritional supplement change
6- Your activity/exercise changed
7- Outdoor sunshine exposure changed
8- Sleeping pattern changed
9- Hormones changed
10- Metabolism changed
When I see plateaus without any obvious changes in habits above, it could just be the body rearranging the fat in your body by moving fat out of inflammatory areas and into healthier areas. This is a good and necessary function that keeps the body in a healthy balance. Not all body fat is created equal.
Whatever the cause, a plateau is almost inevitable and if you keep doing what you are doing you will eventually push through it and the weight loss if necessary will begin again. If you believe any of the ten reasons listed above are a reason for your plateau, let me know and we can make some changes to your challenge protocol.
There are probably many more causes of plateaus than the ten listed above.
If I left any out please leave them in the comments section below.
Please keep your Low Carb food pics coming. You can send them to me via Spruce, Twitter @IMWHorvitz , Instagram @IMWHorvitz , or by e-mail. If sending on social media please use hashtag #IMWChallenge or tag me @IMWHorvitz on Twitter and Instagram
If able please describe your low carb challenge meal with a recipe so others can benefit.
Now for a little contest if anyone is up for it. Below is a pic of a weekly haul from an Organic Food Delivery service we use called Misfits.
The challenge within the #IMWChallenge is to use as many of the ingredients above in a Low Carb Recipe and share it in the comments section. You can add other foods from your pantry but try and have the majority of the recipe from the above ingredients. Obviously a food pic is necessary along with the recipe.
If any of you are interested in Misfits, click on any of the Misfits links for a 10% discount on your first order. We have been using this food service for almost two years. You are not obligated to order weekly which makes it nice and their prices are often less expensive than going to a grocery store directly.
My two meals today.
1st around 1PM was leftover chuck roast mixed with onions and peppers, eggs and some shredded cheese. #Delicious #Keto #Carnivorish #LowCarb
Dinner around 630PM was 2 salmon filets with a small side of zucchini/orange pepper/onion in a smoked Italian Balsamic vinaigrette.

I must admit. I probably finished all but about 1/5 of the second piece of salmon. But no worries as meat and fish never go to waste with this cutie in the house.
