I am almost always curious.
I enjoy reading about new ways to get and remain healthy.
So I read a whole lot.
I attend many Functional medical conferences, especially on newer advances in health and wellness that we were NOT taught in traditional medical school.
Some of what is presented at these conferences goes in one ear and out the other.
Either it does not make sense or I am not interested.
Not everything we are presented and taught actually works in real life.
But there are many other topics that make me go Hmmmm………….. and I dive deeper to see if these health topics will better enable the Institute for Medical Wellness (IMW) to guide you to ever improving health.
So that brings up the question:
What will the IMW be doing moving forward?
Answer: Lots of stuff that I am actually eager to put together. Many of these new additions to the IMW grow from the medical conferences I have and continue to attend.
Traditional medical conferences bore me. It’s usually the same old same old Big Pharma Big Government sponsored lectures/presentations geared to treat everyone the same. Traditional healthcare is like a hammer filled with Big Pharma treatments. You as patients in the system are the nails. And just about every day you get pounded more and more by the hammer.
What do you get out of it?
You get dietary and medical advice that causes metabolic and immune dysfunction leading to many imbalances that end up giving you names such as:
Overweight
Hypertension
Obesity
PreDiabetes
Diabetes
Heart Disease
Cancer
Dementia
During that time you get prescribed pharmaceutical after pharmaceutical until you are eating Pharmasoup and drinking Pharma-cocktails every day even though they rarely if ever solve the underlying issue. I’ll say that again because it is important.
They rarely if ever solve the underlying issue.
Sorry but that is NOT why I went into medical practice. I don’t care to spend my continuing medical education listening to drug pushers.
Well enough complaining.
It’s time for action!
Here are some things I am looking closely at and hope to bring to the IMW in 2022 or early 2023.
1- New weight management program using all we have done so far but adding a home medical device that measures whether you are burning fat or burning carbohydrates for energy. This insight/data can be very helpful at attaining your metabolic and weight goals and reversing many of the disease processes I just listed above.
2- I have now watched a few presentations by Dr. Dayan Goodenowe, PHD along with reading his book,
along with watching many, not all, but many of his online presentations about his research. Dr. Goodenowe is approaching preventive health through biochemical mechanisms that he has researched/discovered.
His research has looked at how to use labs/testing to better see who is at risk for inflammatory neurodegenerative conditions such as Dementia, MS, Parkinson’s, neuropathies and even some cancers, earlier than most other testing.
Hmmmm…
Using labs to help improve health. I wish I would have thought of that before….
Dr. Goodenowe even has some non-medical recommendations to think about. I am intrigued by his research and am considering signing up for his certification course.
3- Functional Genomics - I saw a few presentations by a Naturopathic physician who has dedicated his career to functional genomics, the study of how genes can affect your health, and how you can get the best out of your genes by making changes to your diet and lifestyle. Sounds right up my alley. It is on the list of possible future additions to the IMW.
4- I just started reading a new book from Dr. Sabine Hazan,
who I also heard/watched a few presentations over the past few months. So far though most of her work is FOS, otherwise known as Full of Sh!t, literally and figuratively. Her book is titled, "Let's Talk Sh!t" and is co-authored by Sheli Ellsworth and Thomas Borody, MD. Dr. Hazan has a shitty testing lab, Progenabiome, where you mail them your sh!t and they test it for what types of bacteria, virus, fungi you have and try to determine if the balance of sh!t is healthy or unhealthy.
Why is this important? Well perhaps you should read the book yourself to find out. I do recommend a good place to read this book where it is quiet and you can focus, probably on the crapper.
So these are a few newer areas the IMW is looking to add into what we already do to help you improve your health and slow down the aging process. The IMW is not like traditional healthscare offices. Yes we help you when you are sick. But an even larger focus is on keeping you well and giving you the means to understand what you can do yourself to stay well, hence the name the Institute for Medical Wellness.
So stick around.
The future of health and wellcare is advancing.
Why not let the IMW help you shift control
of your health away from Big Pharma/Insurance/Government and back to you!
I hope you will go on the journey with me and the IMW.
