This one jumped out to me, not only for myself but for others I know - “The less you attack yourself, the less you will imagine yourself attacked by others.”
Is it a cop out to say all of them really spoke to me? Lol. Especially the ones about fear - I let fear and anxiety control me this past summer and messed up my health. Thank you for this thought-provoking post today! It is definitely one that will be reread many times.
In Re-engineer, #3 and #4 have been very important to me in these past few months, very important.
Second, the Lee Iaccoca "be creative". This past Friday I sat out front in the beautiful sunshine with my painted eggs and sold 15 but the best part was the people who stopped with there positive attitudes! Thanks for taking the time to decompress on this beautiful weekend!
Dr. Steve: Am finding your blog disappointing. I originally signed up for hard-core information on heart disease and insulin resistance but the blog has turned into a daily potpourri of platitudes, self-improvement ramblings and stock photography. Just one reader's opinion. Others may be enjoying it.
Thank you for reading and commenting. As I have always said, comments are welcome and encouraged even if they disagree with anything I write.
Common Sense Health and Wellness is about overall health and wellness with a common sense approach. I do not believe any one single approach to overall health and wellness is enough which is why I write about many other aspects of health improvements other than heart disease and insulin resistance.
If you have followed the #IMWChallenge these past three months, the challenges:
February -Low Carb
March - Intermittent Fasting
April - Exercise and Activity
all if done properly lower risks from Insulin Resistance and Heart Disease.
There will be more #IMWChallenges in the following months all hoping to help people improve their overall health.
In my practice, the Institute for Medical Wellness, when working with individuals we highly focus on the power of reducing metabolic inflammation, but that alone is not enough. That is where other aspects of Common Sense Health and Wellness come into play. Overall health and wellness is not a one trick pony, even if that one trick, the lowering of insulin resistance and heart disease is so powerful.
I also find one of the most difficult parts to anyone embarking on common sense health and wellness changes is to get buy in to the changes. The buy in almost always requires a deeper understanding of WHY these changes will improve their overall health. Simply explaining in scientific terms is not always that helpful for the lay person. I have found making the explanations easier by discussing the concepts more and using analogies and the explanations of others even more powerful and helpful. Hence the quotes, platitudes and memes as they often make a point better than I can write myself.
Common Sense Health and Wellness is evolving to discuss topics I find interesting in both real life experiences as well as in the scientific literature. I hope you continue to read, comment and question.

Happy holidays to ALL. It is said that Ramadan, Passover and Easter only converge every 33 years. Wishing everyone joyful family celebrations.
I have told many young people…
The ONLY person you can change is yourself!
Happy Holidays to all your family!
So many to list - and they apply to me.
Will read often.
Personally and keeping it simple, I like the comment, “That doesn’t work for me”, now the action needs to start for me…
Happy Holidays to you and your family Dr Horivtz. I found the Lee Iacocca statement and the definition of maturity resonated most for me. Thank you
Happy Holidays to you and your family also!
