Whenever I am stuck at home, with some type of bug, I get a little stir crazy. I like to move. I like to do things. I don’t like being restrained. But when I get a bug I need to do what my body is signaling. I need to rest and hydrate and allow my body to heal. So that is what I am doing. But with that I get bored. You can only watch so many bad shows on tv/online before the stir gets even more crazy.
So I decided to do what I often do when my mind is working. I write a draft of a Common Sense Health and Wellness post, and if I like it, I actually publish it for you to read. If you are indeed reading this, then I guess I liked it enough to publish.
Now, lucky for me, or maybe it’s not luck, I don’t seem to get sick that often. I hope that is due to a healthy well balanced lifestyle that fits my needs and genetic makeup. This is important as no two people have the same needs or genetics.
So I am home with a respiratory bug, probably picked up at the Las Vegas conference.
I thought what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas??? I have a few choice words for whoever first coined that phrase.
I decided to NOT go into the office as this does appear to be fairly contagious. It’s not flu or COVID, but it is fairly annoying, enough so that I would not be at my best if seeing patients, and I have always promised my best.
So what I am doing is staying home, resting, hydrating and doing my own respiratory cocktail of treatment modalities. If it works as I expect it to, I will be writing again about it soon. So sorry, I will have to leave you hanging for a bit.
I will most likely not be returning for IN-OFFICE VISITS again until Tuesday Dec 26th, 2023. Depending on how I feel over the next 24-48 hours will determine if I am able to do Virtual visits prior to returning in office. Let’s hope.
While I do not have the flu, the Flu is going around unfortunately and appears to be a wicked strain. Fevers to 104, fatigue , muscle aches, cough and overall feeling like you were run over by a truck.
Prevention/Treatment of Flu
If you believe in flu vaccines they are available at most pharmacies. Generally they have a 20-40% chance of guessing the correct flu strain otherwise they don’t do much.
Healthy Vitamin D levels of between 50-80 on your IMW Advanced Wellness Testing. If you are not at those levels, why not??
If you have the flu, some people are using high dose Vitamin D for 2-3 days to help the immune system clear the virus. I don’t know how well it will work, but it could be worth a try. You decide after reading the attached.
If you do try the Vitamin D hammer, make sure you are also using Vitamin K2 as well, between 100-300ug daily. My favorite brand is Pure Encapsulations Pure Heart D/K2 available on Fullscript.
If you have used the Vitamin D hammer in the past, let us know in the comments if it was effective.
My Favorite Vitamin D is Liquid Vitamin D drops by RX Vitamins, also available on Fullscript.
I’ll probably have more to say later about viral treatments but as I am playing the test subject I will have to have you wait for the results to come in.
The IMW Zoom meeting scheduled for tonight has been postponed and rescheduled for Wednesday December 27, 2023 at 7PM.
I need to be at my best for the Zooms. I hope to see all my paid subscribers there if able.
For all my wonderful and brilliant IMW members, I am again solo at the office as my assistant left. I will be looking for her replacement come the New Year. But this allows me to make a request.
Calling the IMW is so old school. Especially when it will just end up on voicemail until I have a big enough break in the day to check it. To get a quicker response please contact my office using the Spruce communications app that everyone downloaded hopefully at their initial visit. Send me a HIPAA secure Spruce text message thru the app instead of calling. I can read messages faster than I can listen to voice mail messages so my response should be quicker. The phones still work and you can still be old school and leave messages, but my preference is Spruce text messages, again, as I can read and respond to them quicker.
Seasons Greetings everyone.
As always comments and questions welcome.
Sorry you are not feeling well Dr. H.
I assume those higher doses of Vitamin D would only be temporary during time of flu symptoms. Would it be beneficial to up the current dose taking to help guard against illnesses since there is a high rate of sickness right now?
Hope you feel better soon! Loved the seasons greetings cartoon, good to see you still have humor.
Happy Holidays to you and your family, also a great new year!
