It’s a Wednesday.
Wednesdays I don’t have office hours but I am working nonetheless. Between answering Spruce messages, reviewing faxes and records and handling any urgent emergent issues, even a non patient work day is still a work day. But it is at whatever pace I decide, which is still nice.
But also Wednesdays are when I like to get other things done outside of work. Like a little exercise, food shopping and of course some home made cooking.
But when I wake up to snow, only a few inches, but still snow, I have to clear the snow from my walkways, not because I am a neatnik, but more for the following reasons.
If I don’t clear the sidewalk and anyone tries to come and knock on my door, not that that is necessarily still a thing nowadays, we don’t want anyone getting injured.
I don’t want any snow freezing and becoming ice on sidewalks or driveway. It’s not fun driving a car down an icy driveway.
I want to avoid the nice frequent reminders from my family to go clear the snow. By now you know I don’t like being told what to do.
This is probably the most important in my household. I need to clear the snow to not delay our daily, sometimes multiple Amazon package deliveries. I mean, the world might end if a delivery gets delayed or doesn’t occur…
So I cleared the sidewalk and driveway. I got thanks from my family. I got a wave from a school bus driver. I was ignored by my neighbors who were also focused on clearing their area.
I didn’t have time to build a snowman as I had other things to do.
But best of all I got outside in the fresh air, and got some good exercise for about 25-30 minutes. The snow was light and pretty much was pushed, not lifted, so no strain on my back. I guess I’ll know better tomorrow if I am sore. But it’s worth it if the Amazon deliveries don’t get delayed.
Remember to always look at the good instead of at the annoying. It’s a much better way to go through life.
How many of you still shovel away snow?
Do you enjoy it or hate it?
Let me know one in the comments below.
We have always shoveled our own snow and elderly neighbors. Today, after my husband's gallballder operation last week, another neighbor did our long driveway with a snow plow. How nice to wake up to kindness!
I love to shovel snow, especially if it’s fluffy and not like a snow cone. Being outside in the crisp air, moving muscles just feels so good. ☃️
