The Choice is Yours
Before I get into the post I want to write about today, let me first say that Thursday Oct 3, 2024 marks 1 full month of my Carnivore Challenge. I feel great, not that I felt bad before. I do have control of my hunger, no cravings, gut feels fantastic. Brain working as sarcastically as ever. So yes, I will be continuing. For those who have joined me in this Challenge, how are y’all doing?
Let me know in the comments below.
As for todays’ post, it is a thinking post.
That means I want you to think, so put those caps on.
I want to ask everyone out there who has high blood pressure and are using prescription medications for it.
Do the medications cure your high blood pressure?
Are the medications fixing the root cause of your high blood pressure?
Is the cause of your high blood pressure a “medication deficiency”?
If you have Type 2 Diabetes and are using prescription medications for it, let me ask you similar questions.
Do the medications cure your Diabetes?
Are the medications fixing the root cause of your Diabetes?
Is the cause of your Diabetes a “medication deficiency”?
I hope you see where I am going with this.
Name your health issue and medication and ask if your condition is due to that medication deficiency.
Our Traditional Healthcare system, which I believe is the best in the world for acute/urgent/emergent care, may just save your life one day. But I find it extremely lacking in helping you prevent so many of the health issues we see increasing as we hit adulthood, such as:
Overweight/Obesity
High Blood Pressure
Pre-Diabetes/Diabetes
Heart Disease
Strokes
Cancer
Dementia
What did I leave out???
Big Pharma has tons of medications for all of the above. But all most of these meds do is “manage” your condition, put a band aid on it, but they do NOT reverse or cure it.
How do I know?
If you have high blood pressure and are using two medications for it and are controlled, stop taking your medications a few days and see where your blood pressure goes (DO NOT try this at home- this is only meant as an example).
I would bet you that your blood pressure rises again. So when your Blood Pressure rises again, I would say that means the medications are NOT curing your high blood pressure, but instead managing the numbers. Problem is managing the numbers rarely reduces your risks of further harm and faster aging process.
But if you actually made changes to root out the root causes of high blood pressure, that would actually put your high blood pressure into remission, no meds needed.
Who do you believe is healthier of the twin sisters?
Amy is 55yo, 5 ft 6 inches tall, 150 lbs and has a blood pressure of 120/80 and on ZERO medications.
Her twin sister Amanda, same height and weight also has a blood pressure of 120/80 and is on 2 blood pressure medications.
I’ll ask again.
Who do you believe is healthier of the twin sisters?
Hint: It’s Amy who is not on any medication.
Our traditional healthscare system is very biased towards a pill for an ill and gives lip service to true root cause thinking.
The Institute for Medical Wellness (IMW), is very annoying at times, because at the IMW, I am always asking Why, Why, and Why?
Sometimes it is good to be annoying,,,,,,,
Annoying means asking enough questions to try and determine a root cause.
Annoying is interpreting tests to identify root causes and system imbalances that can lead to disease processes.
Annoying at the IMW can be Sarcastic, even when asleep…..
But one thing annoying is not, is finding root causes, making changes to remove them, and finding health improvement while deprescribing, safely removing unneeded medications from your daily life.
So keep taking a pill for every ill, or work to figure out root causes of your issues and then reclaim your health.
The choice is yours.
Quite a few years ago, I was diagnosed with type two diabetes… My primary physician, then put me on 500 mg of MetForman per day!
After being on this for several years, I completely changed my eating habits and went keto… Within months, I was totally off my meds, and my numbers have been great ever since!
There is a very interesting documentary on Netflix called The Magic Pill… Follows three families and their medical problems and how they resolve them through diet!! Very informative!!!
Hey Doc,
I would add the majority of orthopedic conditions as well (DDD, DJD, OA, etc) as well as chronic pain syndromes (FMS, CRPS, etc) as they are often preventable when you deal with the structure and alignment of the body. My work with patients over the last 15 years using Myofascial Release and targeted exercise has meted this out.
