I was meeting with someone fairly new to my practice who will obviously remain anonymous. We were discussing how to change some food habits that make it difficult to maintain a healthier diet and lifestyle.
My belief is that when trying to change a bad habit into a good or healthy habit, it can take multiple steps to get there.
Ex:
If you have a very bad food habit, perhaps change the very bad food habit first into one that is not quite as bad a food habit. Then perhaps change the not quite as bad a food habit to a neutral food habit or one that is neither good nor bad. Then change the neutral food habit to one that is actually good food habit for you and your health.
It can be a stepwise progression with no time limit for each step.
very bad food habit
not quite as bad a food habit
neutral food habit
good food habit for you and your health
That time between each habit change is up to you.
So let’s put out a few questions of how to make these habits change.
Here are some very bad food habits that we want to change into good food habits for you and your health.
Lets crowd-fund these questions and answers by replying in the comments section how you have or will soon begin the process of improving your food habits.
I call this crowd sourcing Go Food Me.
I promise not to use your crowd funded answers or food for purposes other than the original stated mission goal of helping you improve your health. I will not forward any of your Go Food Me suggestions to other groups that go against what we are trying to accomplish during our #IMWChallenge
If you support Go Food Me please when you are eating in a healthy manner, every now and then try and CHOMP CHOMP to show your support for others. Perhaps hearing all the CHOMP CHOMP will bring others to the challenge??
How have you or will you soon begin the process of improving the below food habits?
Will you use Food substitutions, Instead ofs, or possibly avoidance??
Your words of wisdom are greatly appreciated by everyone taking part in or following the #IMWChallenge.
So here are 5 bad food habits we need Go Food Me to help change.
1. Popcorn: I make my own with grass fed butter. Maybe once or twice per month if we watch a movie.
2. Ice cream: When I take my grandchildren to the local ice cream store.
3. Potatoes: - of any kind. Baked, sweet, hash browns, French fries, etc.
4. Chocolate: is there any brand of dark chocolate that is low carb? Maybe with Stevia?
5. Girl Scout Cookies: But I already know what to do with this - make a donation instead!
Please reply back in the comments section and to show your support, throw in a CHOMP CHOMP as well!
Meme of the day:
I saw this one retweeted from Elon Musk.
For breakfast today, I had an organic grass-fed beef burger with olive oil sautéed onions and mushrooms with steamed broccoli (olive oil and garlic). Instead of eggs and....
1. Almonds, cashews, etc
2. Coconut water, coco powder, avocado and ice in vitamix. With sweetener of choice. Or Greek yogurt and frozen berries in vitamix. Both delicious.
3. More meat or more vegetables.
4. Admitting I don’t care for chocolate - please don’t hate me. I am leaving more for you.
5. Buy them and bring them to your place of work. They will be eaten by others. The little salesperson will be very confused if you give them money and tell them to keep the cookies. Trust me.
