I’m back from vaca. It was one of those chill weeks away where you get to relax and unwind and do whatever you want. It was not a hotel staying restaurant going busy hectic seeing the sights weeks. Instead it was R and R, just what me and the family wanted.
We woke up when we wanted, which was pretty much the same time as when we are home. We went to sleep probably a bit earlier than usual as we were not home with unfinished work on our minds.
It was what you may call a stress reducing time away.
I did get to read some books I was saving, most of which I picked up at one of the recent conferences. I got a few pearls from the books but nothing earth shattering new.
Pasquale above, or that is what we named him, at least I think it’s a him, hung around the small place we rented for the week. I think he/she took care of the bugs that like to hang around in the grass. I’d prefer to leave the bug eating to Pasquale and such and keep them out of our food.
Since I mentioned our food, otherwise known as people food, we did have one heavy rainy day so we went to a big outlet mall that just happened to have a Brazilian steakhouse. To make sure the servers knew to keep bringing the pieces of meat to the table, I stuck the green side of the card, which means FEED ME, attached to my forehead. They got the hint. But what I realized is that since I went keto-carnivore and improved my overall health and lost excess weight, I can’t eat as much. Oh well, Brazilian steakhouses are still fun.
Another night we went to a restaurant called “Mussel Beach” where I ordered for dinner a bowl full of mussels in a marinara sauce. Was definitely yummy.
I also cooked during the week as I usually prefer home cooked food where I control the ingredients.
Everything but the chicken was home cooked. I bought a plain organic rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods and ate it for lunch over 4 days usually with some mozzarella and tomato with balsamic vinegar. I realized I so prefer chicken thighs and wings over chicken breasts. But I somehow was able to eat the chicken breasts. Dinners were either the steak or eggs with homemade potatoes.
I did gain 2 lbs during the week but as I write this, 3 days after I returned I am back on track and have lost 3 lbs with hopefully 5 more to follow to get to where I feel the best.
I did keep up with my health and wellness e-mail reading. Yes I do read what others write about health and wellness. How else would I keep up with the latest and stay ahead of Dysfunction-Care?

So during the week off I had some good ideas for future substack newsletters. Hopefully some will make it to your inbox.
Until then I will leave you with a few health and wellness quotes I got from my reading.
“The person who takes medicine for disease must recover twice, once from the disease, and once from the medicine”
— Sir William Osler
-
“A doctor prescribes a drug he knows little about, for a disease of which he knows even less, to a person of who he knows nothing.”
— Unknown

“A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything”

“Sometimes the questions are complicated but the answers are simple”

And finally, what would a Common Sense Health and Wellness Substack newsletter be without a meme?
Probably not as fun so here ya go.
Oops I almost forgot.
