Below I have quoted some excerpts from a July 14, 2021 post from Gerry Vanden Bossche who knows and understands more about how vaccines work and provide immunity than just about anyone.
With the ongoing debate about whether to get COVID vaccinated (jabbed) or not, we need to hear from all sides. Unfortunately that is not what is occurring as the media onslaught from government directives are mostly one sided.

Written below are some excerpts from a blog post from Geert that explains what he believes the jabs are accomplishing.

Who or what is causing the COVID variants?

In layman terms- the vaccines (mRNA treatment jabs) are causing more infectious variants to spread. It is not those who chose to not be vaccinated (the unjabbed) who are causing the spread of the variants.

Definition of absurdity: For the first time in human history, we can transmit a disease we don't have to those who are immunized against it.
Can we blame the unjabbed for failure to achieve herd immunity?
"Neither disappointing vaccine coverage rates nor diminished virus neutralization rates should be blamed for failure of these vaccines to enable herd immunity. From their very first conceptualization, it should have been very clear that these ‘S-based’ (Spike protein) Covid-19 vaccines are completely inadequate for generating herd immunity in a population, regardless of the magnitude of Ab (antibody) titers induced or the rate of vaccine coverage."
In layman terms- You can not blame the unvaccinated (unjabbed) for failure of the "vaccines" (mRNA treatment jabs) to achieve herd immunity. The mRNA treatments focusing on a single protein strand (spike protein) of the virus was never up to the task.
My other common sense questions would be:
Did Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, Astra Zeneca and other Big Pharma manufacturers of COVID jabs know this?
Would longer term studies have shown this to be the case?
If Big Pharma did know this was a possibility, did they advise anyone in government or the health authorities?
If they did advise our government and health authorities then why are we continuing to push a vaccination (mRNA treatment) whose effectiveness is waning quickly?
See what is happening in Israel, one of the first countries to jab many of it’s people.
While there are signals for now of less serious cases in the jabbed, the overall cases are increasing in BOTH the jabbed and unjabbed. If Geert Vanden Bossche is correct and the jabs create more viral escape variants, do we know whether the jab will prevent serious cases in the future??
It seems like scientists have reached a consensus that the jabs are the way to go. Why aren’t scientists who disagree speaking up?

In layman terms - scientists must not be afraid to speak up when they believe the science the government has been using and advocating for is wrong. What worries me is that many in the science world are “captured” by the system whereby their employment or their funding is provided by the same government that is making the mistakes. To speak up could cost these scientists research funding, stature and even their jobs. Heck of a system we have developed???
Some in the media are trying to speak out about censorship.
By me getting the jab, I am protecting myself and others from spreading COVID, correct?

In layman terms- the mRNA treatment jabs are NOT producing or adding to herd immunity as even if you were single or double jabbed, you can still both get sick from COVID as well as pass it on to others. It is those who have been jabbed that are producing the new viral strains, of which may evade protection from the jab.
If you are jabbed and get mild COVID illness, you can still spread it to others who do not have immunity. So in reality then, the COVID jabs do NOT add to herd immunity.
Is the government correct in blaming the unjabbed for new variants?
"mass vaccination campaigns conducted in the heat of the pandemic simultaneously allow large cohorts of subjects with suboptimal Ab (antibody) titers (e.g., as occurring after the first dose or between the 1st and 2nd dose of a 2-shot vaccine) to become exposed to the virus. In layman terms- the vaccines (mRNA treatment jabs) are causing more infectious variants to spread. It is not those who chose to not be vaccinated (the unjabbed) who are causing the spread of the variants. Our government “leaders” and health authorities and media who are blaming the unjabbed for variants and spread of COVID are either lying or misinformed. I'll let you decide.
Which is better with respect to COVID? Vaccine induced immunity or natural immunity from clearing an actual infection?

In layman terms- Natural immunity derived from getting and recovering from actual COVID infection is much stronger than that from a mass treatment with mRNA treatment jabs from Big Pharma. I am not advocating for you to expose yourself to COVID to develop natural immunity. I am saying that natural immunity by far trumps any short term benefits from the jab.
Was the government correct in trying to vaccinate during an active pandemic?
"together with the propensity of viral variants to propagate on a background of S-directed immune pressure, prevents ‘imperfect’ vaccines from establishing herd immunity when used in mass vaccination campaigns at the height of a pandemic. In layman terms- the "vaccines" (mRNA treatment jabs) will never work to provide herd immunity especially when used during a pandemic and again, it is those who received the jabs that are responsible for producing the new COVID variants. So someone should tell our government, media and big corporations to stop blaming the unjabbed!
Will Booster jabs help?
“Boosting vaccinal Abs with 2nd generation vaccines is not going to solve the issue of immune escape, even if the immunization with ‘updated’ vaccines would be repeated by 6-month intervals. "
In layman terms- Booster jabs will not work for the same reasons the initial jab did not work to fully protect or to achieve herd immunity.
If we continue to create new booster vaccines, we will eventually beat back COVID.

In layman terms- Using a new technology (mRNA) that works on one single viral protein strand (spike protein) during an active pandemic just creates more escape viral variants. We will not win the race against COVID mutations with the mRNA jabs.
So there will never be a good vaccine for COVID?
Geert has some advice:
"The more rational way to control infectious viral transmission in a pandemic of an acute, self-limiting viral infection and to achieve herd immunity is to use live attenuated vaccines. "
In layman terms - We should use an inactivated whole virus to achieve broader and stronger coverage against the possibility of mutations or escape viral variants. An inactivated whole virus would not get you sick but would give you much greater immune protection than the present spike protein only mRNA jabs. Hopefully these are in the works and will go through proper testing.
