Sometimes others say it better.
So today I invite you to read, listen or watch how others look at exercise/activity for health improvement.
A real expert on metabolism, next we have Dr. Ben Bikman with a short Instagram video on the benefits of exercise and metabolic health.
Hopefully by now, if you have been following the IMW Health Challenges, no one intervention alone is enough. It is best to combine in your own unique way multiple different methods of health improvement.
Exercise burns calories and fat. But the more muscle mass you have, the more muscle mass you work during exercise, the more energy you burn during exercise. So if you want to improve your metabolism, build up some muscle mass. You will be rewarded not only by being stronger and more fit, but also with a healthier metabolism.
I like this saying probably because there is quite a lot of truth in it. Don’t put off for later what you can do now. If you make exercise a priority you will accomplish more in your day and not just in terms of activity. Exercise is good for your brain.
So if you have been reading and lurking this month and have not yet participated in the Increased activity/exercise #IMWChallenge , what are you waiting for?
Let’s end with something off topic but kind of nice.
Probably nothing better then hugging your best friend!
Have a great weekend everyone. I think the weather is supposed to be really nice so get outside if you can!

Ouch, Bikman is saying that replacing your carbs after a workout can be one of the “worse” things you can do, based on one very weak study. I’ve seen him give weak studies too much credence when it matches whatever narrative he is pushing before. The sample size in this study was too small to draw any conclusions. Also, how intense were these “intense” workouts? What was the durations? What was the fitness level of the participants?
Since this is activity/exercise month, we have to talk about the elephant in the room. Higher intensity exercise needs carbohydrates. There is no way around this reality. Fat metabolism works just fine for sedentary day to day activity, but is not nearly fast enough with higher intensity efforts. This is also true for ketosis, which is great for fuelling our brains, but not as good for fuelling our muscles.
