Soooo, I was on Twitter, aka X tonight and saw a post by Dr. Mark Hyman, a well known doctor in the Functional healthcare arena.
One of the things I like about Functional medicine is that most Functional health professionals use their heads and actually think. Butt by doing this I find that many Functional professionals don’t always agree. Disagreement is actually a good thing as it pushes people to think deeper and for themselves. Nothing wrong with protecting yourself from others, even if others have good intentions.
So here is a pic of the recent Dr Mark Hyman post. After the pic was my, shall I say rebuttal.

Dr Hyman discussed more about why he believes this law is good and you can read more by clicking the link above. Or copy/paste the link below for his full thread.

He then went on to write about why he felt the State of Texas getting involved in nutrition was a good thing.
Well, perhaps he didn’t fully think this through or maybe he truly believes this.
My reply to his post is below.
Bolded type is my response
Mark
Sorry to be a pessimist but here is how it will play out.
Mandatory nutrition curricula in all medical schools—- which will all be about whatever the govt/big food decides the correct diet is.
-Insurance coverage for nutrition and lifestyle medicine— if this even occurs the payments will be low and will attempt to hijack true functional nutrition professionals. I do nutrition counseling and I do NOT want insurance coverage. Third parties have ruined enough of our healthcare system, we don’t want them involved here.
-Research funding for food-based treatments- Only if done without bias, which if Big Food and Govt is involved, is a fairy tale.
-Licensing exam questions that prioritize nutrition— So docs can regurgitate Big Govt/Big Food protocols that not only don’t work but actually make things worse.
This is how we make real change.
—- No, I disagree. This is NOT how we make real change.
Real change occurs when enough individuals on their own decide that our healthcare system is actually a sick care system and leave it, other than for acute/emergent care of which we have probably the best in the world.
Keep third parties and govt out of it.
What do you think?
Remember, Common Sense Health and Wellness is written to get you thinking for yourself, to hear many viewpoints and never be pressured to go along with something you do not agree with.
So let me know in the comments below.
I saw the same tweet on X, and was going to reply in pretty much the same way you did, but just didn't get it done.
Thank you for being my voice today!
I absolutely agree with you! Government involvement has already proven to be a poor & corrupt system for directing healthcare (if that's what one wants to call it...I call it something else).
