First presentation was from Dr. Mark Hyman. If you have followed Functional Medicine you have probably heard about him. He has an interesting story, but you can read about that yourself elsewhere if you are interested.
Instead I will just list some thought provoking pearls from his presentation.
I am not about anti-aging, but more about healthy aging.
We need to get away from Whack-A-Mole medical care.
Most people die of either too much or too little.
Sitting too long is equivalent to smoking one pack per day. Loneliness is equivalent to smoking two packs per day.
Meaning and purpose can add seven years to life expectancy.
Hormesis- the stress that does not kill you can make you stronger.
Stop treating disease. Instead promote health!
Overall some good thoughts on how to approach your health and life.
So this was just a quick taste of today.
