Well I made it to the conference after spending a day in a very very big dam hole.
Don’t worry though.
It’s not what you think.
As the caption implies, think back to Sesame Street and tell me which of these 3 belong together and which does not?
It was nice to see up close one of the 7 natural wonders of the world. Visiting that area really made me think how life used to be so much simpler.
Day One of Conference
Busy day.
Got up bright and early as the conference began at 730AM PST, 1030AM EST.
So not to mess up my sleep schedule, I was up around 430AM PST just doing my normal reading as well as planning out which sessions of the conference I wanted to attend, which I did not, and when I could get to the exhibit hall which was “gihugeic”.
From past conferences I know I can NOT be at everything so I don’t try to. It is better to just pick the best you can and enjoy.
I also enjoy speaking with/questioning/annoying the exhibitors to see what’s new, interesting and innovative out there in the health and wellness sphere. I always bring an extra empty duffle bag as it will usually be filled with all the free “stuff/crapola” I get from the exhibits.
The conference was focused on anti-aging or to put it better, slowing down the aging process while improving quality of life at the same time. This was NOT a traditional medical conference. Instead it was a Functional Medical conference that is always looking to the future while improving the present. It uses the best that traditional medicine offers and leads the way in new innovative care that perhaps today is termed Functional, Holistic or Integrative, but in a few years will be embraced as Traditional. At least that is how I have seen it occur over the past 5-7 years.
Wouldn’t health and wellness be better off without turf wars and politics getting in the way?
Some of the presentations included:
Anti-aging using Metformin and Rapamycin
Measuring your Biological age vs Chronological age via your immune system
Keynote presentation about how technology is evolving so very fast and all of the $$$ going into using the technology for healthcare- exciting and scary at the same time
Many Hormone presentations on improving quality of life, especially around Perimenopause and PostMenopause.
Vagus Nerve stimulation for migraines, cluster headaches, GI issues, Long COVID, Anxiety/Depression/PTSD and Neurodegenerative conditions.
Circadian Rhythms and health
A few thoughts.
It was nice to get “back to normal” as we get past the COVID years. Isn’t it amazing how 15 days to slow the spread has now reached 1000 days? Maybe amazing is not the right word. The people masked up were minimal, probably under 1%. Whether you believe masks help prevent respiratory virus spread or not, it was good to see people’s faces again and not be afraid to socialize like was always the case.
It was also refreshing that the “shot” requirements of a few years ago appear to be in the rear view mirror where I hope they remain.
Time changes can be tough sometimes. So I decided to ignore the time change and just wake up normally, which meant between 330-430AM PST (630-730AM EST) and to sleep between 830-930PM PST (1130PM - 1230AM EST). Of interest I decided to do this even before I went to the circadian rhythm presentation. I have found sleeping too much is just as disruptive to health and wellness as sleeping too little.
Food- I decided I wanted to take off a few pounds while away. Usually when I am busy I don’t think about food and my appetite is decreased. So the plan was to bring with some protein snacks to have for lunch if I was hungry and then have a nice dinner, lower carb of course. My favorite snacks for this just happen to be SimplySnackin.com
They have both beef and chicken varieties. If you haven’t yet you should check them out.
I did decide to “splurge” for dinner the night prior to the conference by going to one of Vegas well known buffets. Here is what my plates looked like.
Shrimp, ribs, chicken, sausage, some type of sliced beef with just a few potatoes. They also had a nice spread of crab claws but somehow I have not acquired that taste. The beef was disappointing but the other choices were excellent. So if anyone says it’s tough to find lower carb choices when away perhaps they are not truly looking for all the options they have.
That’s enough for today.
Perhaps you will hear from again tomorrow??
As always, comments and questions welcome.
I wonder, in addition to the immune system method, could Biological age also be measured by how much somebody naively buys into whatever objectively bad medical information they receive from the "public health authorities" and their pharmacists, and have conjured up by their own runaway imaginations and faith based superstitions?
I feel like it's probably measurable. Maybe I'll work up a Benjamin Buttondom (Buttondumb?) points system, it would pair well with the immune system one, ya know, cuz ya can't neglect to factor in high-risk behaviors such as "absolute blind trust in government regulatory agencies, corrupt healthcare systems, and Big Pharma" when estimating the modern human lifespan 🙃
