What do ya think?

Some days I wake up, start reading about world events and try to decide if I went to sleep and woke up in an Alternate Universe.

The things I read just don’t seem to match up to reality.

Is it me??

Things to make you go Hmmm…

Here are some things I am seeing/reading as I peruse the internet. Remember that I always believe everything I read on the Internet. Also the moon is made of cheese, all politicians are honest people, and I am still waiting for the Nigerian Prince to send me that 10 mil for forwarding him a loan as well as my social security number which is 008-67-5309. That number has a lovely melody to it.

If you have time to listen to a podcast here is one you must listen to. The person interviewed, Dr. Hazan doesn’t care where you listen, even if you are sitting on the throne.

It’s time for Nutrition Twitter.

Let’s talk Saturated Fat.

Saturated fat is not the villain that the PTB (Powers That Be) are trying to make it out to be. Click on the below links for some research.

Replacing saturated fat with polyunsaturated increases risk of heart disease:

Higher saturated fat intake was associated with lower stroke risk. For every 10 g/d increase in saturated fat intake, there was a 6% decrease in the risk of stroke:

In the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI), the largest dietary RCT ever performed,.....the subset of women with pre-existing CVD, the low-fat diet significantly increased the risk of coronary heart disease events.”

Systematic review/meta-analysis: No significant evidence.

Hmmm-5

If you want to believe in something, try putting belief in your own immune system to keep you healthy, as long as you treat your body well.

Ideas to stay healthy.

• Proper diet/nutrition- Avoid government sponsored diet recommendations

• Proper exercise/activity- use it or lose it is actually usually true

• Proper outdoor time- How can anyone believe that the Sun, which gives our world life is somehow bad for us and to be avoided? The key is always balance.

• Proper Sleep/Stress balance

• Proper Hormonal balance

What did I miss???

Interesting isn’t it that I mention different areas to keep you healthy but I do not mention treating a number or a lab test with a pill as if that would help?

Treat people not the name of their illness, or their number on a lab test.

The key/goal to slowing the aging process and living a healthy life is balancing all the above systems. That is what the Institute for Medical Wellness works on with each individual every day.
