Air Fryer Chicken Wings

Mmm Mmm Good!

I mentioned my IMW Air Fryer Chicken Wings in a previous post and had a few requests for my recipe.

So here goes.

I use an Instant Pot Air Fryer attachment to their tremendous pressure cooker.

This kitchen tool works great and gets plenty of use throughout the week.

My other favorite kitchen tool would be my set of Lodge Cast Iron pans, but I can get more into that at a later time.

Back to the wings…………..

The beauty of IMW Air Fried Chicken Wings is no added fat needed to fry them up, yet they come out amazingly crispy and juicy. Nothing tastes better than crispy yet juicy flavorful meat with a great mix of high quality protein and natural non-industrialized fat.

As you probably know I am a Keto-Carnivore.

80-90% of the food I eat is meat, chicken, fish, eggs and cheese.

Sounds different to those who have not researched or tried it, but…

This diet contains an ample amount of protein and fat. The fat I consume is mostly found naturally in the meat and we as humans have been eating meat for much longer than processed food, probably by more than 10,000 years. I do not need to add extra fat such as lots of butter or olive oil as I use just enough to cook my meals. But with air fried chicken wings, there is enough tasty fat in the chicken meat and chicken skin that no added fat is needed for cooking. It cooks in its own fat.

Eating more protein with natural fat and keeping dietary carbohydrates low has been working to improve metabolic health for many years. Below is a chart of COVID severity in Metabolically healthier people (Virta health) vs others.

As you can see, the metabolically healthier Virta Health population had less COVID hospitalizations, ventilator need and deaths. Virta Health focuses on diet more than drugs. In my practice I have worked with Simplex Health, another healthcare company that focuses on lifestyle and nutrition to improve health outcomes.

Before we get to the recipe, here is a link to a YouTube video of a school board meeting. No, it's not about COVID. But it looks like someone played a prank with names, similar to the Simpson's TV show. Watch the clip and listen carefully.

Someone should do that to Congress, but I guess they cause themselves and everyone else enough trouble on their own.

Here is the IMW Air Fryer Chicken Wings recipe.

Ingredients:

• Chicken wings- thawed and at room temperature

• Spices to include the following:

• Salt

• Black pepper

• Onion and garlic powder

• Celery seed - one of my secret ingredients

• Dill

• Sweet smoked paprika

• Salt free chimichuri seasoning

• Amounts of spices are up to you dependent on your taste.

What to do next?

Mix all the above together so the spices attach to the wings evenly.

Place in air fryer at 400 degrees for about 25-26 minutes.

Open the air fryer a few times to mix/rotate the wings so they cook evenly.

If you want you can slice up some onion and bell peppers and add them into the air fryer with about 5-10 minutes left on the timer.

If the wings aren’t crispy enough cook for a few minutes longer.

I sometimes make a garlic aioli dipping sauce for the wings.

• 4 tablespoons of avocado oil Mayo / either Kensington’s brand or Primal Kitchen. Regular soybean oil is very inflammatory and I would avoid it as much as possible.

• Add in about 1/2 tablespoon of garlic olive oil, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder and mix well.

You can add other spices to the aioli as well such as BBQ or ranch seasoning, just use a No-Added-Salt version as it is tasty enough without the added salt. Sometimes I add in celery seed, dill weed or more sweet smoked paprika. But it really depends on my mood.

Try this out and let me know what you think. In my home they are at least a twice monthly meal.

Why did I do a post on food?

Last thing.

There is a whole lot of discussion about COVID vaccine mandates. I have never been much of a believer in any type of mandate. I prefer education and transparency and then people will make the best decision. Look at the pic below and tell me if our healthcare system is making the best decision with respect to COVID mandates.
