What do y’all think of video podcasts?

Actually, what do y’all think about me typing out and using the word “y’all” so much lately? I think I picked this up at my February conference in Nashville and it kind of hung on.

Back to the topic.

Substack, the platform that hosts Common Sense Health and Wellness also has an audio podcast function, that I have not yet truly used.

Why?

Actually I don’t really know why?

I am asking because as you can tell, I somehow like to put out Common Sense Health and Wellness posts in written form. But I have considered a podcast. I’ve been a guest on quite a few and had lots of fun. Some of my physician colleagues have hosted podcasts for quite awhile and are very successful at getting out their message. Many friends/colleagues keep encouraging me to do the same but I don’t think I want the fame and notoriety that comes from publishing something out there to such a big audience.

I like to say my sarcasm and hopeful common sense works best with a smaller more focused audience.

But smaller things do tend to bloom eventually, if we let it.

It is Spring, right??

So my podcast colleagues, without my knowing it, sent some of my Common Sense Health and Wellness posts to a large media company that hosts podcasts. I am not allowed to give their name out, but it starts with an S and ends with a Y.

They are interested in chatting with me to see if I have any interest in moving forward with I assume, a video podcast?

They just want short 5 minute episodes, not the long podcasts that many others are doing. They say it won’t take much time.

So I am torn.

I enjoy writing Common Sense Health and Wellness.

I enjoy what I do at the Institute for Medical Wellness.

Writing and producing a podcast for a media company will take a lot of time and effort and might take some time away from what I do at the Institute for Medical Wellness.

Then again it is an interesting opportunity.

So what do I do?

It is ultimately my decision.

But I always like to here other opinions.
