It’s time to give Thanks as well as some Thought for the New Year soon to be here.
So here goes it….
I am thankful for the health, companionship, loyalty and trust of my family and friends. Without them my world would be a much different and less fulfilling place.
I am thankful that throughout these strange past three years, I have maintained good friendships, even with people who I disagree with on issues. Friendships above politics always!
I am thankful that the world appears to be opening up once again as people are returning to the old normal, not the "new normal" that many power hungry people would like us to embrace. Be your own leader, not a follower.
I am thankful for my set of Lodge Cast Iron pans and Instant Pot pressure cooker that I use so often when cooking my favorite meals. If you have been following this substack blog, you understand…
I am thankful for all the actors, actresses, athletes, talking heads and politicians for spouting off their "expertise" on medical and health nonsense to the world. This has allowed me to finally turn off the TV and stop watching professional sports as well as the “News”, which leaves me more time to do everything else I enjoy. These actors, actresses, athletes, talking heads and politicians (really they are all one and the same- actors trying to sway public opinion) have taught me that to be respected you should stay in your own lane, respect other viewpoints and stick to the truth.
People who look down on other people don't end up being looked up to" -Robert Half
I am thankful that on Thanksgiving morning when I need to go do a quick errand, that almost no one is on the road, making my drive much quicker and more pleasant, while hitting very few red lights.
I am thankful to all the Institute for Medical Wellness (IMW) members. Your trust and support drive me to continue to always look for new and innovative health and wellness protocols to improve your journey towards optimal wellness.
I am thankful to the Functional Medicine and Lower Carbohydrate community for always reading, researching, discussing, debating and even arguing over how to improve the health of others. This community proves we can disagree yet still be friends and associates and learn from each other.
Nutrition is a large part of overall Health and Wellness. I am thankful for all the farmers, ranchers and fishermen out there producing wholesome natural and organic food to keep us healthy.
All disease begins in the gut.

I am thankful to the social media communities I interact with who are always openly discussing all sorts of topics. I learn from every interaction I have, whether in-person or virtual. Sometimes I learn what to do, while other times I learn what not to do. Both are necessary and important.
It's not that (people) aren't smart, it's just that so much of what they know just isn't so.
---Ronald Reagan
I am thankful that more people are opening their eyes to all that has occurred over the past three years and are now asking much needed questions. Just remember to always ask the questions respectfully, but know that trust in the answers you are given need to be earned, with everything on the table and nothing hidden.
"Not to know is bad. Not to wish to know is worse." -African proverb
Wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving, with much, gratitude today and always!
Wow that was a mouthful. I hope you saved room for dessert. Just kidding. Right back at you. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all who read this. I will keep it simple. I’m thankful for my walk in the woods this morning with no one around. Also and more importantly I get to hang out and be with my family and people I care about and care about me. Enjoy your day.
